Rebelution Brings Reggae Dance Party To Grand Sierra Resort In Reno On New Year’s Eve Along With Special Guests: Pep Love And Thrive, December 31, 2011

Southern California reggae band, Rebelution, along with hip-hop artist from Hieroglyphics, Pep Love,  and reggae-rockers, Thrive, will perform on Saturday, December 31 at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno for an all-ages New Year’s Eve dance party. Doors are at 8pm and the music starts at 9pm. Tickets are $45 in advance. through Ticketmaster or by phone 775-789-2285.
Originally formed in 2004, members Eric Rachmany (vocals/guitar), Matt Velasquez (vocals/guitar), Rory Carey (keyboard), Wesley Finley (drums), and Marley D. Williams (bass) met in college while residing in Isla Vista, a beach-side community in Santa Barbara. Throughout 2004-2005, Rebelution began to buildmomentum through consistently playing local shows and by independently releasing an EP.
Rebelution released their first full-length album “Courage to Grow” in 2007, which would become the breakthrough album for the band, praised for its crafty melodies, socially conscious lyrics, and savvy musicianship. “Courage to Grow” went on to garner mass downloads and radio play on stations such as San Francisco’s Live 105 where their single “Safe and Sound” was played on heavy rotation, with spins on San Diego’s 91X and Los Angeles’s KROQ. The album was selected as iTunes Editor’s Choice for Best Reggae Album of 2007. In addition, “Courage to Grow” peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart.
Two years later, Rebelution released their sophomore full-length album “Bright Side of Life.” It dominated the iTunes charts, solidifying the #1 spot on iTunes in the reggae music genre, and the #3 spot for top albums downloaded in the United States in all genres of music. The album reached No. 1 on the Billboard TopReggae Albums chart!
The band performs at high-profile festivals including the 2010 Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa, California with other well-known acts such as The Expendables (American band), Slightly Stoopid and Lauryn Hill.
On January 10, 2012, Rebelution will release their 3rd studio album, Peace Of Mind, through their label 87 Music. Fans can get a free download of all three versions of Peace of Mind’s first single, the upbeat “Sky is the Limit”.
Reggae Rockers, Thrive, also Pep Love, a hip hop artist and motivational speaker who is also one of the founding members of the Oakland, California-based underground hip-hop collective Hieroglyphics, will also be performing.
