Internet, Mobile, Technology and Business professionals and entrepreneurs will meet up to network and learn about Caribbean Internet Trends and how to use online advertising to target customers and make money, at Kingston Beta on Thursday, February 26th, 2009, a technology event series focused on raising the awareness of Internet and mobile trends, technologies and opportunities and how various Jamaican industries can profit from it all.
Kingston Beta, which is a free event, will see two main speakers Chad Cunningham, CEO of Caribclix and Jamie Ranston, Internet Consultant who boasts a combines 20 years in the Internet industry. Topics scheduled to be presented are – Trends on where Caribbean and Caribbean Diaspora audiences spending their time online; How can companies target local, regional and global Caribbean and Caribbean Diaspora audiences; Where the advertising industry online and offline is headed and why should Jamaican companies care; Why Jamaican marketing budgets must change to reflect the trends. An added attraction to the event is a special section called Pitch This! which is rapid-fire round where the CEOs of Jamaican Internet startups are given three minutes to pitch the audience on their online business, gauge response and take quick questions.
“Online Advertising during a recession, I know can seem like a contradictions in terms, but what it does is offer an affordable, targeted and measured way for companies to reach customers where they are spending most of their time and see a return on their ad dollar,” explains Chad Cunningham, Ceo of Caribclix, an online advertising network. Jamie Ranston, Internet Consultant agreed and added “Jamaican marketing budgets must change to reflect the trends.”
This year, Kingston Beta will also play host to the attendees and speakers of the Social Media Marketing Workshop an affiliate event staged by Survivors Unlimited, which will be held on the same day at the Jamaica Pegasus. American speakers Elixir Interactive CEO Fionn Downhill and Newsforce founder Dana Todd will be in attendance and networking.
