It is with a very sad heart that I inform you Doggie Ranks original lead vocalist of the Indika Reggae band and founder of the Hydro Afro Reggae band die after a short illness at the age of 43. I was honor to manage Indika for over 10 years and enjoy the many night that they stay at my home and the many meal Doggie fixed for my family. Doggie was loved by all my kids as it was hard not to love him.
It was also a honor to be Executive Producer of Indika first CD “Proud to be Your Bud” featuring Doggie and Devon Brown something Doggie was very proud of. Later Doggie and I work on his single “Rise Up New Kingdom” being selective to be part of “Put My Faith In Jah” CD along side such artist as Peter Tosh, Peter Broggs, Toots and the Maytals and Luciano. Doggie was also honored several time by the martin Intercultural Music Awards as “Best DJ” and “Best Entertainer’
Doggie was a long time fixture in the Michigana / Chicago Reggae scene, there was no one who had more energy on stage than Doggie and no one who could get more women on stage with him. This drove more than one producer crazy. As I recall the Island Fest 2004 when you could hear Doggie on stage but couldn’t see him due to the 100s of women surrounding him.
Doggie moved to AZ about four years ago with his best friend Peter Beaumont founder of the Indika Reggae band were they had continued their music careers.
I know there will be a tribute to Doggie in the Chicago area, in the mean time funds must be raised to return Doggie to his homeland of Jamaica. Donations can be sent to…
