Reggae Girlz Campaign Kicks Into Higher Gear

The World Cup campaign for the Reggae Girlz kicks into higher gear in less than two weeks when they take on 38th-ranked Chile in Kingston and Montego Bay on Thursday, February 28 and Sunday, March 3.

The two-matches will serve as a prelude to the 100-days-to-go campaign which will also the team playing against Panama and hosting camps in Jamaica and France leading into the first match (FIFA World Cup) on June 9. Jamaica is ranked 53rd. (March 1 will be 100 days to the opening match on June 9).

Head Coach, Hue Menzies says “we enter the second phase of our preparation by bringing a 24-woman squad to compete against Chile. Chile have played Brazil and Italy recently, therefore will get an opportunity to measure where we are as a team.”

The coach added, “we want the Jamaican public to come out and support the Girlz at both venues.”

JFF President, Michael Ricketts, is aware of the significance of this campaign and is adamant that “the team will receive all the support required to get for preparation leading up to the World Cup.”

TICKETS FOR THE MATCHES

Tickets for these matches will go on sale on Friday, February 22 and are $2,000 Grandstand, $1,000 Bleachers for both games. Group rates will be available to all corporate and community groups. Both matches will start at 7pm.

JN Group, Caribbean Airlines, Supreme Ventures, The Bob Marley Foundation and Wisynco brands – WATA and COCA-COLA are all national sponsors; while globally, The Alacran Group is also a main sponsor.

WORLD CUP

The opening account at the World Cup is Sunday June 9 against Brazil; the other group matches are Thursday June 14 against Italy and then Tuesday, June 18 against Australia.
