Reggae, Soca, and World Music’s biggest and brightest night, the 32nd International World and Music Awards (IRAWMA) will take place on May 4, at the beautiful Coral Springs Center for the Arts. It’s going to be a night of Glitz, Glamor, and Grandeur; starting with the red carpet arrival of celebrities at 6 PM, a VIP reception and the electrifying awards ceremony which will begin at 8 PM
Over 200 Reggae and World Music industry individuals, groups and others were nominated in 40 categories for their accomplishments and contributions, many of whom will be present to accept their awards and be a part of the festivities.
Top nominees for this 32nd IRAWMA are Mr. Vegas w/ six, Damian Marley w/ five, Sean Paul, Konshens, Romain Virgo and Third World w/ four, while Jimmy Cliff, Marcia Griffiths, Tarrus Riley and Busy Signal all share three nominations.
The awards ceremony will sparkle with performances by over 15 top stars such as Mr. Vegas, Romain Virgo, Calypso Rose, Half Pint, Richie Stephens, Macka Diamond, African Soukous Star, Top One-Frisson, Mutabaruka, and Haitian/Compas emerging star J-Beatz.
South Florida rising stars and nominees, Sons of Mystro, as well as three of Gospel’s popular performers, veteran Rev. Dr. Norris Weir, Second Chance and Jonathan Laurince and True Worshipper will also be performing. The performers will be backed by the Dean Frasier All Star Band and Inner Circle, who will be presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award, will be performing a special birthday tribute to the late Jacob Miller, whose birthday is actually on May 4. Hosting duties will be carried out by Freddie McGregor and Etana.
VIP ticket holders will get to walk the red carpet, and meet and mingle with the stars and celebrities at the dazzling VIP reception before the awards ceremony. “This is a night to celebrate” stated Ephraim Martin, CEO of Martin’s International Culture, producers of the event. “Everyone comes in their most fashionable apparel, and are in high spirits as they anticipate winning and celebrating their accomplishment.
