Reggae Jerk Jam – October 27, 2007, Tampa

Odessa, FL – October 17, 2007 – Reggae Jerk Jam festival is here once again!! On Saturday, October 27, 2007, from 11:00am – 9:00pm, all roads lead to the Bayanihan Arts & Events Center located at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive in Tampa, Fl. 33626

” Reggae Jerk Jam” is an annual family festival that celebrates the authentic tastes and sounds of the Caribbean, while supporting a charitable cause.

The food emphasis will be on the world-recognized phenomenon of “Jamaican Jerk Cuisine”. Several vendors will be serving their own jerk specialties along with other forms of original Jamaican food dishes, while natural juices sodas, beer from the Caribbean, will also be on sale. Additionally, there will be Caribbean Arts & Craft items on sale.

There will be several live musical performances providing traditional Reggae to Latin reggae, Steel Pan reggae, as well as a popular DJ playing selections of the latest reggae music.

The live performances will feature the exciting and entertaining group, “Paris and the Birds of Paradise”, and the original and rich musical sounds of the roots-reggae band, “Tribal Style”, both from the Tampa Bay area. The South Florida region will be well represented by the versatile and entertaining “Vision Band”, and the musical selections of Mark Swaby of the Illusions Disco coming in from “Truck Stop” in Pembroke Pines, spinning the best in Reggae music. Amongst all this reggae music, will be a fashion extravaganza featuring the alluring models of “The Fashion Movement”, that will showcase the exquisite clothing of the internationally renowned “Cooyah” reggae wear brand, while the “JBJ” reggae dance group will be showing off the latest dance moves.

A Kidz Zone will be available for the young at heart. Dominoes and other games will be available for patrons to participate in. Patrons will have the opportunity to win prizes and there will be a raffle of 2 airline tickets to Jamaica courtesy of Air Jamaica and a motorbike donated by Rogue Amusements.
Part proceeds will be donated to the Caribbean American Medical Educational Organization, Cameo.
There is a $5 admission charge for everyone 5 years and older, with a $2 preferred venue-parking charge per vehicle. To get to the Bayanihan Center, travel north on Race Track Rd., which is off W. Hillsborough Ave. and Nines Eagle Rd. is on the left, just 2 miles north of the Tampa Bay Downs Race Track.

About the Caribbean American Medical Educational Organization (CAMEO).
CAMEO is a not for profit, 501(C)(3) tax exempt organization, whose mission is to provide free medical services to people in the rural areas of Caribbean countries such as Jamaica, St. Vincent, Belize and also include other Third World countries where access to these services are limited.
Since 1993, under the direction of Dr. David Keen (a Jamaican born Physician), teams of 15 to 20 volunteers have been traveling to Jamaica about three times per year to provide treatment, medication and supplies to the less fortunate residents of these areas.
These volunteers augment government run clinics screening for hypertension and diabetes, as well as treating many other ailments. Patients are also taught preventative healthcare and medications are distributed at no cost to the patients.
All the team members fund these trips out of their own pockets and give up their vacation time to help those in need.
