CAMEO is a not for profit, 501(C)(3) tax exempt organization, whose mission is to provide free medical services to people in the rural areas of Caribbean countries such as Jamaica, St. Vincent, Belize and also include other Third World countries where access to these services are limited.
Since 1993, under the direction of Dr. David Keen (a Jamaican born Physician), teams of 15 to 20 volunteers have been traveling to Jamaica about three times per year to provide treatment, medication and supplies to the less fortunate residents of these areas.
These volunteers augment government run clinics screening for hypertension and diabetes, as well as treating many other ailments. Patients are also taught preventative healthcare and medications are distributed at no cost to the patients.
All the team members fund these trips out of their own pockets and give up their vacation time to help those in need.
