Talented Canadian reggae soul princess Bonnie Casey has been nominated for Canadian African Committee Unsung Heroes Award. She has earned the nod in the Arts and Entertainment category. The Awards recognize outstanding achievement by persons in the African Canadian community. These individuals went beyond their duties to develop and maintain the Caribbean/African heritage and culture. “I feel very blessed and fortunate to be nominated for this prestigious award.” “In a way, it is kind of humbling,” said Casey from her home in Canada. Her manager could not be reached for comments. The awards ceremonies will be held at JCA, 995 Arrow Rd. Toronto.

This former Miss Canada beauty queen finalist and fashion model is not only blessed with beauty and talent, but a benevolent spirit as well.  Over the past few years, Casey has contributed significantly to her community. She was very instrumental in the fund raising efforts in support of Haiti following the devastating earthquake. She endowed her talent to this very worthy cause by participating in at least six diversified fundraising efforts.

Casey has been an avid volunteer since her senior years of high school. She has supported such organization as the Juvenile Diabetes Association, Big Sisters, The Value of Self Esteem workshop and ‘Let Thy Voice Be Heard’ program. (support for younger girls who are interested in Arts and Entertainment.) She leads by example and has been a mentor, a role model and someone who exudes hope and confidence for these young girls.

This multifaceted young person has had an extremely busy 2011 under the guidance of Reggae’s most renowned artiste manager, Copeland Forbes. She has recently completed her first mini world tour which was very successful. 2012 looks like it’s going to be another great year for Casey. Her debut album is set to drop in Dec. 2011 and will feature Sly & Robbie and Dean Frazier, who are producers currently working with Casey. On Nov. 19th, Torontonians will be treated to another one of her mesmerizing performances as she share the stage with reggae greats: Pluto Shervington, Dobby Dobson and Boris Gardener for the Men of Distinction show. This highly anticipated show takes place at the Double Tree Hotel, Mississauga.
