Wayne Wonder, Da’Ville and John Holt will be leading the pack of rising superstars to join JAMROCK Reggae Fest this Saturday, June 14 at Hammerstein Ballroom. As late additions to the lineup, these artists are three of the big surprises that promoters LinkUp Media have in store for the thousands of patrons set to storm the Hammerstein Ballroom this Saturday.
Wayne Wonder, Da’Ville an John Holt will be replacing Sanchez, who is a late cancellation in the all-star lineup. Almost sold-out, the headliners will join featured acts like Beenie Man, Ky-Mani Marley, Third World Etana, Chris Martin, Demarco, Ce’Cile, Assassin, Mr. Vegas and New Kingston Band.
As JAMROCK’s surprise guest, Wayne Wonder has been making surprise appearances all over, with the last being at the “Icons” concert (featuring Buju Banton, Super Cat, and Barrington Levy) at Madison Square Garden in NYC last month. Wayne was also nominated for ‘Best Male Artist’ for the CUMA (Caribbean Urban Music Awards) that launched in the gorgeous Hellshire, Jamaica in April. “I just want to do good songs,” Wayne concludes. “I’m keeping the mainstream recognition in mind but adding my creative flow to it because I want people to know that Wayne Wonder is not limited. I got a good band together and I really feel pleased. I can go out there now and really represent myself.”
Still feeling the success his 2007 release of ‘On My Mind’, Da’Ville has been performing with greats like Freddie McGregor, Half Pint and Mad Cobra. Da’Ville’s remixed single “On My Mind” with Sean Paul has held #1 positions across international music charts. “Music connects the world, but reggae dancehall music is a language by itself,” sayd Da’Ville. “It makes you listen and move at the same time. Music is my medium of expression and most people can relate to my experiences and vibe with me.”
John Holt is known as one of Jamaica’s sweetest singers and enduring songwriters. He has voiced and penned so many of the country’s classics that in a way, Holt has defined the island’s sound. Across the decade, Holt made numerous acclaimed appearances at Reggae Sunsplash, and the singer continues to compose, record and perform.
