Jamaican Nigel Spence To Compete Against Celebrity Chef Bobby Flay On New Food Network Special
Mt. Vernon, New York – Jamaican chef and restaurateur Nigel Spence will again face off against celebrity chef and Food Network star Bobby Flay in an hour long culinary battle on the popular series Throwdown with Bobby Flay to be aired on the Food Network at 10 p.m. EST on May 25th, 2008.
The special, titled Rematch on the Grill, was filmed at the exclusive Biltmore Hotel and Resort in Coral Gables , Florida and will pit Flay and his team against a group of three chefs who have appeared on previous seasons of Throwdown. Working alongside Chef Spence are American chef and author Delilah Wilder of Philadelphia who specializes in Soul food and Barbecue pit master Butch Lupinetti of New Jersey .
Nigel Spence first appeared on the Food Network less than a year ago when he was challenged by Bobby Flay to a Jerk Ribeye grill off which Chef Spence won. He is also the owner of the critically acclaimed Ripe Kitchen and Bar in Mt. Vernon , New York which has been featured in the New York Times, The Journal News, Westchester Magazine, Neighborhood Eats (WABC-NY), Tony’s Table (WCBS-NY), The Jamaica Gleaner, Jamaican Eats and The Jamaican Magazine. Chef Spence will also appear in the summer 2008 installment of the award winning in-flight program Island Stylee on Jamaica ’s national airline, Air Jamaica .
