Bog Walk Police Station To Be Renovated

The Bog Walk Police Station in St. Catherine will be renovated on Labour Day (May 23) when 25 members of the South Florida chapter of the Jamaica Ex-Police Association continue their annual clean-up exercise to assist in refurbishing police stations on the island.

Supplies and equipment totaling nearly $6,000 (US) have been donated for the project by members of the Florida association, to assist in the refurbishing program.

Members of the Florida association will again, partner this year with members of the local Jamaican chapter to assist in the annual exercise which will include painting of the building, plumbing, masonry and carpentry and installation of new equipment at the station.

This is the fifth annual effort organized by the Jamaica Ex-Police members to do general restoration and renovation of police stations across the island. Since the inception of the programme, the members of the Jamaica Ex-Police have completed clean-up work at other stations, including Four Paths, Clarendon, Lucea in Hanover, Ocho Rios, St. Ann and Richmond in St. Mary.

While in Jamaica, members of the Association will participate in a week of activities scheduled across the island.

Some of these include a presentation of medical supplies and equipment to the Bog Walk Clinic and the Police Convalescent Home in Black River, St. Elizabeth. The shipments contain wheel chairs, walkers, hospital beds, and a variety of supplies and pharmaceuticals.

Other activities will participation in the annual police sports day in Kingston, as well as the Calabash Literary Festival in Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth among other events.
