NEW YORK (JIS) :The Registrar General’s Department (RGD) will conclude its 2007 Eastern United States Outreach Mission with stops in the Tri-State area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut from 28-30, November, 2007.
The RGD team which is being lead by CEO, Dr. Patricia Holness, will make scheduled stops at the First Presbyterian Church of Orange, 420 Main Street, New Jersey, on Wednesday, November 28, from7:00 to 9:00 pm; the Freedom Hall Church, 629 Albany Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, on Thursday, November 29, from 7:00 -9:00 pm; and at the West Indian Social Club, 3340 Main Street, Hartford, Connecticut, on Friday, November 30, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
In addition to the special town hall sessions as detailed above, Jamaicans residing in the area will be able to access the services of the agency during the regular business hours of 10:00 am through 1:00 pm, Wednesday through Friday, November 28-30, 2007, at the offices of the Consulate General of Jamaica in New York, at 767 Third Avenue, Manhattan (Second Floor).
At the offices of the Consulate General of Jamaica and during the town hall meetings, members of the RGD staff will conduct on-site processing of applications for birth, death, deed poll and marriage certificates for Jamaicans overseas.
Chief Executive Officer of the RGD, Dr. Patricia Holness, is encouraging those Jamaican nationals in the Tri-State area and especially those not able to utilize the agency’s on-line service, to take fullest advantage of these one-on-one meetings.
The RGD team will also assist persons in conducting genealogical research and general record updating activities. All business transactions will be negotiated in US$ using cash or international money order(s).
The Tri-State area stop concludes a tour of the Eastern US which started in South Florida on November 19, 2007 and made stops in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta (Georgia).
