Coming to kick things off on June 7th is DJ Shelly from Kool FM 97 in Jamaica. Shelly will be spinning some hot tracks and taking your greetings back to Jamaica. Jamusa and Mikey B. of WAVS 1170 will also be rocking the house. Singer Anthony Cruz will make an appearance plus Lots of prizez and drink specialz. An Amazing Grace Premiers on Father’s Day

Roy “Artboy” Martin is a popular graphic artist, know for designing skills. Well, three years ago he was inspired to write a play, and with encouragement from family and friends he acted on the idea. Riddims Marketing and Jamaica Awareness, Inc. have taken the project and produced the play entitled An Amazing Grace, which will premier on Father’s day at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, at 7pm. Under the direction of Chris “Johnny” Daley, – you know him from Lime Tree Lane in Jamaica as well as many other productions including Jamaica 2 Rahtid and Comedy Buss – An Amazing Grace features Daley in a lead role as well as several notable personalities including DJ Gary Sweetness, Sammy Question, Ann “Charm” McKenzie, Andrew Clarke as well as audio cameo appearances by Winston Barnes and party promoter “Screechie Bop”. See Oliver Samuels in hit play River Bottom

Tickets are now on sale for theaward-winning play River Bottom featuring Oliver Samuels. The play comes to South Florida on Saturday, July 5, at The North Miami Beach Julius Littman Performing Arts Theater – 17011 NE 19 Avenue, North Miami Beach. They end their Florida run on Sunday, July 6, at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, 2855 Coral Springs Drive.

Byron Lee to musically spice up Curry Festival

The first annual International Curry Festival is scheduled to take place on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 15, 2008 – 10 am to 10 pm – at Central Broward Regional Park, 3700 N.W. 11th Place in Lauderhill. The festival will appeal to the many ethnic groups that utilize this very popular spice in food preparation; as well as those who enjoy foods prepared using this exotic spice. Attendance is anticipated from the Asian, Caribbean and Indian communities in South Florida as well as the mainstream population who will find the festival attractive and enjoyable.

One of the main features of the festival is the Curry Duck Cook-off, presented by Coconut Wines and Spirits; a serious contest where individuals compete for cash, bragging rights and the first-place trophy. A distinguished panel of judges will select the winner. This tradition is very popular among the populace of Trinidad & Tobago and is sure to attract a large number of competitors as well as a throng of supporters who will cheer and root for their favorite contestant.

Other activities include a 20/20 cricket match between the South Florida Cricket Alliance and a South Florida International Eleven, guaranteed to be a spectacular contest for cricket fans. In addition, a netball match between Broward County teams will add to the excitement of the day’s activities.

The event will climax with the “Curry Concert” featuring the pulsating rhythms of the Caribbean and Asia. Performances by several top entertainers include; Code Red Band, reggae singers Mikey Spice and Mikal Rustle, chutney star Rikki Jai from Trinidad, the Haitian sensation T-Vice and the legendary Caribbean band, Byron Lee and the Dragonaires.
