Rootz Underground # 1 On MTV TEMPO

After just 5 weeks on MTV Tempo’s Cross Caribbean Countdown, Rootz Underground’s first video, ‘Victims of the System’, has peaked at # 1. “And it’s all because of our fans’ votes. It shows that support for positive, new Jamaican music is strong within their hearts and across the Caribbean.” Rootz member Colin Young said enthusiastically.

Rootz Underground has just signed with Neil Robertson and Steve Wilson of Mystic Urchin who are now managing the band. Rootz’ new management are getting ready to service their 1st video to music stations all over North America and Europe.

Though Rootz’ debut album ‘Movement’ is scheduled to be released in September, the band has been busy in the studio recording additional singles. They have just completed ‘Farming’ with Bobby Digital, ‘Riverstone’ with Dean Fraser and are about to start work with Mikey Bennett.

While Rootz is excited about being at #1 in such a short time they know that staying there is key as Colin explains: “Being at number one is great, but staying at number one is what will shake Babylon to the core. Staying in the top 10 must be a reality if the message of positive music is to truly take root across the Caribbean and eventually the entire world!”
