On Friday March 20, viewers and a live studio audience of the Reggae Internet 151 Show are in for a treat when the show will host rum expert and writer Ian Williams to speak on an important pillar of the history, politics, economics and culture of the Caribbean- rum. A live studio audience will also have an opportunity to sample rum brands from around the world.

Ian Williams is the author of the critically acclaimed book, Rum, A Social and Sociable History of The Real Spirit of 1776 (Avalon/ Nation Books). Williams is also a contributing writer to a number of publications in Britain including The Guardian, The Financial Times, The Daily Telegraph, The European Observer and The Sunday Herald.

Since becoming interested in rum, Williams has amassed a growing collection of rumabilia including books, pamphlets, prints, advertising ephemera, bottles and decanters, hundreds of labels from all over the world, and, of course, rum. Rums from Croatia to Thailand, from Kazakhstan to India, from Hawaii to Jamaica, Haiti, Trinidad and Barbados. With his keenly acute sense of history combined with his astonishingly vast knowledge of rum, Williams will tell viewers how rum shaped the modern world.

“I feel that the partnership with rum and the 151 Internet Reggae Show will create a totally exciting synergy for our viewers.  Reggae and rum go hand in hand, and I am certainly very pleased to have someone of Williams’ caliber on the show”, commented Dave Rodney, executive producer of the Reggae 151 Show.

The rum show can be seen live on Axiomonline.tv on Friday March 20 from 9 PM to 12 midnight EST. The show, like all 151 Reggae shows,  will also be archived and can be viewed on demand at the same website.  Typically, resident DJ Ness plays a blend of reggae classics and blazing new joints.  Interviews with interesting personalities, live performances, dancers, fashion segments and reggae news are also features of the show.
