The highly rated Habitat Terrace is one of the many small, intimate, quality, Saint Lucia hotels in the north of the island which did not skip a beat following the passage of last month’s Hurricane Tomas.

Cheryl Skeete, manager of the homely 12-room hotel in Bonne Terre (near the world class Beausejour Cricket Ground), explained that within 24 hours of the storm, the property received electricity and with the support of her dedicated staff remained open for business since.

Skeete, a former banker and banana farmer, said there was minimal water damage to two rooms due to a leaky roof, but the boutique hotel – with impressive views of the Rodney Bay Marina – has been able to continue offering visitors the storied Saint Lucian hospitality for which the island’s intimate inns are particularly well known.

“As the water authorities make daily progress bringing various communities on stream with fresh water supplies, our expansive underground storage tank has enabled us to provide comfort to our guests and staff over the past week,” she said, adding, “we have adequate water supplies.”

Meanwhile, WASCO – the local water authorities – report water supply has been restored to some parts of Babonneau, Anse la Raye, Dennery and Vieux Fort.

At the John Compton Dam, LUCELEC, Saint Lucia’s Electricity Services, has completed the line work to supply power to the dam whose lines will be energized when WASCO completes work underway at the site.
