It was an intimate setting for the Shaggy and Friends Father’s Day Launch Party. About forty or so guests attended the event hosted by Action Audio at the Hartford Plaza Hotel in East Hartford on Friday June 8th. In attendance were many prominent politicians, community organizers, business persons, and media representatives from Hartford. Guests mingled with each other while being entertained by Shaggy’s hits which were being played by the DJ’s. Shaggy graciously greeted guests and took many photographs.

The highlight of the night came when Hartford Councilman Kyle Anderson presented Mr. Orville “Shaggy” Burrell with a plaque from the City, honoring him for his service to the United States Army, and his numerous charitable efforts over the years, particularly those committed to the cause of maintaining and expanding the facilities at the Bustamante Children’s Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica.

In Shaggy’s acceptance speech, he stated that he did not realize he had such a huge impact until he heard his story being told from the mouth of another. Shaggy will perform alongside I-Octane, Serani, Christopher Martin, Ding Dong, and Nookie Man, on Sunday June 17th at the Laz Parking Lot in Hartford. The Father’s Day event will also feature a car and bike show.
