I don’t remember how many years it’s been since Webmaster Xavier invited me to write a blog, but I know it’s been a long time.
Now, the time has come to sign off. I will be 85 years old in March, and I am beginning to feel my age.
Looking back at all those hours I’ve spent trying to make sense of life in these United States, I wonder whether I’ve changed anybody’s mind about anything.
But it has been interesting reading your comments – pro and con. And I am grateful to you for sharing them. Perhaps we’ve modified each other’s thinking. Who knows?
Everyone has to have a basic rationale for their perception of this crazy world we live in. Mine is simple. I accept the teachings of Jesus without question. I guess you might call it faith.
Everything else starts from that premise. Love one another. Do to others as you would have them do to you. Be kind to those who treat you badly. Set a good example so that others might also accept the teachings in the Gospels.
And I believe our Creator would want us to treasure the world He gave us – not plunder and despoil it.
I have tried to view national and international events from that perspective. And I know I may have seemed naïve to some readers. But that’s the thing about faith. It’s not sophisticated. It’s not clever. You believe or you don’t.
So, as my good friend Eddie would say:
One love.
