Singer Anthony Malvo who began his career in the 80’s on the legendary “Black Star” sound system in Kingston and recorded his first number one hit “Come Back To Me” featuring Tiger on the Techniques record label was recently honored by Super Sonic Promotion in Bridgeport, Connecticut for 30 years of outstanding contribution to the music industry.
“I’m very grateful to be recognized for my achievements in the music business” Malvo told Iamges Newsletter.
“My biggest accomplishment is making good music and pleasing my fans along the way” he said.
Malvo, who is also an accomplished producer rose to fame with hit singles “Greatest Gal Lover,” featuring Daddy Lizard, “Can You Stop The Rain,” “Ready Or Not,” and “Sensi,” featuring Josie Wales. In 2003 he released a compilation album of hits titled, “The Best of Anthony Malvo 80’s and 90’s,” that was released on the VP Records label. Aside from his own solo recordings, Malvo has done a lot of production work with some of the biggest stars in reggae. In 2004, he released a rhythm compilation titled, “Hot Gal,” that included songs by Bounty Killer, Capleton, Sizzla, Lexxus, Vybz Kartel, Anthony B, Wayne Wonder, Daville, Lukie D and Round Head.
In 2006 he released the “Sit Dun Pon it” rhythm featuring Capleton, Pinchers, Vybz Kartel, Luciano, Blessed, Shinehead and Anthony B. Malvo is currently working on a new solo project which is due out next year. On stage, he recently opened for R&B hit makers the Chi-Lites in Atlanta and has up coming gigs in New Jersey and Detroit before he returns to Jamaica for a performance in December.
