The 2011 launch party for Ed Robinson’s new disc titled “Written In Stone” proved to be another spectacular affair for the more than 500 music lovers who converged at the exotic Liquid Bar & Lounge in Valley Stream, New York
The Brooklyn based singer, producer, songwriter who began his musical journey in 1977, threw down a glittering performance that brought a Sumfest type of a vibe and energy to the stage. Robinson belted out favorites from the new album including If I Follow my Heart , Cry No More, Talking Blues and the popular Our Heroes that soared to the top of the charts in South Florida and New York last year. Robinson also did a spine chilling rendition of “Knocking On Heaven’s Door” that he dedicated to Japan, which on March 11, was ravaged by 9.0 earthquake and subsequent tsunami that left thousands dead and many others homeless. The song hit a musical nerve among those in attendance.
“I am thankful for the overwhelming support we received from the media and entertainment fraternity” said executive producer Luciana Maneri from Push Broom Gang Productions.
“Hitting the road for Mr. Robinson and getting the music heard and promoted throughout the world is our next challenge” she disclosed.
When label mate, singer Rojjah – who made the trek from Jamaica to attend the launch – pranced on stage, the crowd roared in anticipation of the tasty musical palate that was to be offered. The reggae crooner worked the crowd with his charm and had the women tumbling over themselves as he reeled off songs from his catalogue. Other performers at the launch included Splicerr Ras, Tanya Mullings, Stephen Souza, and the X-Cite BAND with former Third World band member Irvin ‘Carrot’ Jarrett on percussion.
Among those attending the launch were Chris Chin, Ms Pat Chin, Clive Davidson, Clive Chin and Rhona Fox from VP Records; DJ Roy and Oxtail from Irie Jam Radio; Chip Smith from One Caribbean Radio & E2onair.com; singers Da’VIlle, Ky-Enie, Junie Ranks, Devon Jorge, Marcia Davis, and Dwayne ‘DJ Bandit’ Jones from Royal Radio, 106.3 FM and E2onair.com who hosted the event.
