After her successful tour of Africa last year with veteran DJ U Roy, budding singer Winsome Benjamin is gearing up for and up close and personal performance in NY with Elvis D. The event takes place at the elegant Rose Garden located at 4224 Church Avenue in Brooklyn.
“The experience in Africa was marvelous” Benjamin said. “To fully engage my audience, I sang something old and something new. When I bellowed the JC Lodge cover ‘Some Loves You Honey,’ it was almost as if I could just stop singing because the blended voices of male and female fans was sweet music to my ear.”
She said at the conclusion of her set, fans threw gift items on stage as a token of their appreciation. Benjamin has also made an impressive mark performing in Germany, the USA, Canada and the Caribbean. Born and raised in Clarendon, Winsome has performed with prominent entertainers such as Inner Circle, Hip Hop star Bobby Valentino, Doug E Fresh, Ken Boothe, Machel Mantano, Tarus Riley, BB Seaton, Leon and the People, Buju Banton, Damian Marley and many others.
Her repertoire includes Gospel, R&B and love songs. She recently release the album “Where birds can’t fly” which earned her two nominations at the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) and the award for the Most Improved Entertainer. Her original single “TRUE LOVE” from the album featured Ed Robinson. The video made quite an impact and solidified her place as an artiste of substance.
