Subscriptions for the eleventh edition of the Rototom Reggae Contest, a competition which promotes the European reggae scene, are open. Registration will be available until mid-January to bands from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Austria, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Albania, Greece and Poland, to name just a few of the countries which will be grouped into six areas.
The bands will be voted by six juries, made up of more than 50 professionals in the international reggae scene, and the public, who can choose and vote for their favorite band on the website of the Contest. At the end of February the finalists will be announced.
The prize for the winner is a European tour in the major reggae festivals in Europe, among which Reggae SunSka in France, Summerjam in Germany, Sardinia Reggae Festival in Italy, and Rototom Sunsplash in Spain. In total, the European Contest will offer about 65 concerts.
This year will be the eleventh edition of the European Reggae Contest after celebrating the last tenth edition which dealt with more than 310 participating bands from 23 different countries and more than 80 partners, including music festivals, concert venues and promoters. Thus confirming the competition not only as a true reggae community, but also as an excellent launching pad for emerging artists.
Thanks to this platform, the European winners of 2012, the Serbians Irie FM and the winners of the Latin Contest Los Dubies, both performed at the previous Rototom Sunsplash.
To these were added the Spanish winners King Konsul & Chalwa band and the winners of Northern Europe, the British Ital Audio
Rototom Reggae Contest will take place at the same time in South America, where it arrived at its third year with increasing success, and this will be open to bands and singjays from Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and for the first time to those of Colombia and San Andres y Provedencia.
