St. Andrew’s GC Of Trinidad Lead Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am “Annie’s Revenge” After Round One

The sixth annual Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am “Annie’s Revenge”, presented by NIKE GOLF teed off on Thursday, December 8 with twenty-six teams from the United States, Canada and Europe vying for top honors.
 
At the close of play on Day One of the three round tournament, being played on two of Jamaica’s best golf courses Cinnamon Hill and White Witch in Montego Bay, the St. Andrew’s GC of Trinidad lead the 54-hole event respectively, with a score of 53. Rounding out the top three at White Witch behind leaders St. Andrew’s GC are 1757 Golf Club from Virginia, who trail by five strokes on 58, and the media team with Carlisle Country Club golf pro Jeff Breiner, Crans Sur Sierre GC from Curacao, and Alpine Country Club from Utah each on 59.
 
Over at Cinnamon Hill, RTJ Golf Trail with a score of 56 leads their nearest rivals Muttontown Club by one stroke. Alpine Country Club from Rhode Island are two strokes behind on 59.
 
In the professional category, Ed Kirby of Alpine Country Club in Rhode Island shot a first round 69 to lead the field ahead of Bob Casper of Alpine Country Club of Utah and Rick Burk of 1757 Country Club who each shot 70 to trail by just one stroke. In the senior pro division, Jim Booros from Southmore GC in Pennsylvania scored 73 to lead Doad Edwards of Ohio State GC by one stroke.
 
The three round event being played using the one best ball net format, continues on Friday, December 9, culminating with the championship round on Saturday, December 10, 2011.
 
Professionals will be competing for a $10,000 cash prize, while amateurs will vie for prizes donated by sponsors American Airlines, NIKE GOLF, Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort, Iberostar Grand Rose Hall and Jamaica Tours for the exciting hole contests.
 
The Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am, presented by NIKE GOLF is managed by The Golf Connection LLC with the support of the Jamaica Tourist Board, American Airlines and host hotel, Iberostar Grand Rose Hall.
