Students to Participate in ‘Artylympics’, March 18th, 2015, Jamaica Conference Centre

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry of Youth & Culture is inviting schools to participate in its ‘Artylympics’ Competition. This is one of the activities of the 2015 Jamaica Visual Arts Competition & Exhibition that will be held during the “Schools’ Arts Day Out” on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the Jamaica Conference Centre. Registration is $1500 for Teachers and $500 for Students and this includes lunch.

The JCDC Visual Arts ‘Artylympics’, is an Olympics-inspired series of art games and creative challenges. This component of the JCDC Jamaica Visual Arts Competition & Exhibition which is being held for the second time allow students to tap into their creativity and overcome the challenges posed to them, including a mystery portfolio and an Art/ Exhibition Trivia. They also have the chance to win $100,000 for their Art Department courtesy of the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF), the main sponsor of the Jamaica Visual Arts Competition & Exhibition.

According to Stephen Davidson, Director Marketing & Public Relations, “the day will also feature Art Teacher Seminar, Mek it and Share it, Exhibition Viewing, interactive activities and entertainment, giveaways, on-site social media interactions, public voting for the viewers’ choice, a public mural created on site by patrons and display booths by art companies.”
