Soca Sensation Launches Six Flags Caribbean Summer Concert Series, June 25, 2009, New York

America’s favorite theme park company Six Flags Inc and Caribbean arts- and education-based non-profit CCB International are teaming up with prominent New York City entertainment marketing firm Upscale Crowd Entertainment to launch the Six Flags Caribbean Summer Concert Series on Thursday, June 25th at Club Opera & Eden in New York City.

Featuring Atlantic Records recording artist Rupee, who released the infectious carnival anthems “Jump,” and “Insomnia” in 2000, before scoring international success with 2004’s “Tempted to Touch,” the media event serves as a kick-off for the Caribbean Summer Concert Series’ July 11th showcase at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ.  With a knock-out line-up that includes Trinidad & Tobago’s 2009 Carnival quadruple title holder Fayann Lyons, the Soca ‘Fire Man’ Bunji Garlin, Billboard-topping Soca artist Kevin Lyttle, Iwer George, Burning Flames, Super Jigga TC, and the newly added Trini Jacobs alongside Rupee, the Great Adventure show promises to be one of the biggest and best displays of Caribbean talent. The festival is aimed toward providing a ‘daycation”–bringing the fun-filled, energetic spirit of the Caribbean to American families who simply can’t afford to travel to the islands this summer in the current economic climate.

“It is an honor to be a part of what is easily a powerful and positive step towards taking Caribbean music and culture to the masses,” states Rupee.  “A showcase and opportunity of this magnitude is certainly what is needed to quench the thirst of the mainstream for Caribbean music. I see this concert at Great Adventure as the perfect marriage of music and enjoyment–the concert goer will literally be taken on a musical ride.”
