It’s the most anticipated gospel event in the Caribbean
Grammy Award winning American gospel singer Tasha Cobbs, Travis Greene and Fred Hammond are among the international acts booked to perform at the 3rd annual Unity In The City praise and worship gospel concert, slated to take place at the National Stadium in Kingston on Sunday, August 17, 2019. This year’s theme is ‘#Isurrender’
“Our vision for Unity In The City is to transform lives and impact cities by executing mega gospel events events that are uplifting and motivating” said Antoinette Ennis, event organizer.
“We have revolutionized the gospel music industry and the event is creating history with a stellar combination of live music, comedy and dance with world class production at our events. Last year we broke records, attracting over 15,000 patrons inside the National Stadium. This year’s event promises to be much bigger and is the most anticipated gospel event in the Caribbean” she shared.
Motown recording artiste Tasha Cobbs, who is known for her powerful, soulful vocals is expected to win souls ministering songs like ‘I’m Getting Ready,’ ‘You Know My Name’ and ‘Your Spirit.” She has been a force in gospel music since the release of her 2012 Motown single ‘Break Every Chain’ that debuted at #1 on the Billboard Gospel chart. Her debut album ‘Grace’ spent a full year in the top ten of the Billboard Gospel album chart. She has since released numerous albums including her live album ‘Heart. Passion. Pursuit: Live At Passion City Church’ that generated a historic 2 million streams in one week.
Tasha, a Gospel Music Award (GMA), Dove and Stellar Award winner for Gospel Artist of the Year has attracted crossover success, teaming with hip-hop mega star Nicki Minaj with the radio friendly single ‘I’m Getting Ready’ that debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart when it was first released in 2017. The song has garnered more than 7 million streams to date.
Since her conversion to Christianity, Minister Marion Hall, formerly Lady Saw has been winning souls for Christ globally with her powerful testimony that is both moving and entertaining. She was ordained an evangelist at the Emmanuel Apostolic Church on Slipe Road in Kingston and was baptized in 2015. In 2016 she was invited to perform in Washington, DC at the White House as part of the third annual Caribbean & African International Leadership Conference. It has been almost four years since she answered God’s call and today she remains steadfast in her commitment to him.
“It not all about me, it’s all about God,” Hall said in an interview. “I feel honored to be an ambassador for Christ. I have to give him all the glory and honor.”
Other local gospel acts slated to perform include Rondell Positive and Rhoda Isabella. The event will be hosted by comedian Ity Ellis and singer/TV host Alaine.
