In response to the global COVID19 pandemic, a group of concerned Jamaicans in Jamaica and the USA, have come together to stage a telethon to aid the fight in their native Jamaica.
The initiative is being coordinated by Karl ‘Cheese’ Campbell and his Vintage Vinyl Expressions (VVE), with help from persons and organizations in New York, Florida and Jamaica, and will mirror a similar undertaking by the government and people of Jamaica, in collaboration with VP Records Distributors, on April 12.
According to Campbell, who host a weekly, online Live Stream show – Vintage Vinyl Expressions – ‘we need to be there for each other, at this time’.
“We are experiencing a global crisis of unprecedented proportions, where selflessly, persons are placing the welfare of others above self, which is a testimony to the greatness that defines all of us.”
“The overwhelming display of civic duty to save lives in Jamaica and all across the world, is on full display at this time and so, we are grateful to our partners in government and the private/public sector, in allowing us to use their existing platform for this exercise to raise a targeted US$1 million to fight this disease,” offered Campbell, who noted that his group was putting the finishing touches to the event which will be streamed, live on a number of social media platforms, including; WWW.TWITCH.TV/CHEEEESEJA, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
