How can one showcase the many accomplishments of Mrs. Lorna Archer Stanley in a simple one-page summation?, Impossible. Nonetheless, we are attempting to offer a synopsis of her remarkable journey and her successes in changing the trajectory of many lives.

Her professional career encompasses a broad cross-section of the US professional circle to include, Journalism for NBC News, an Editor’s Assistant with Newsweek Magazine, and as an Aide to Congressman Dan Mica, former US Representative for the 11th district of Florida. Lorna later segued into entrepreneurship, establishing a successful Public Relations Firm. She was equally vibrant in the community as in her professional life, and was a founding member of the Jamaicans of Palm Beaches and was an earlier member of the Caribbean American for Community Involvement in Royal Palm Beach.

Despite such professional and personal successes in the United States, Lorna returned to Jamaica with the primary objective of helping the less fortunate. She set her sights on Trench Town, home of reggae superstar Bob Marley, a very resilient community in Kingston. Lorna established the Operation Restoration Christian School for educationally challenged children ages 7-17. She also established an organization “The Strong Women of Spicy Grove” with a mandate to uplift young women by providing an avenue to explore entrepreneurship. The Governor-General of Jamaica conferred upon Lorna one of the highest civilian recognition the “Order of Distinction” for her contribution to the community. She was also recognized and invited to the Oprah Winfrey show and featured globally in many publications.

Lorna’s contribution to humanity aligns with the mission of Free Spirit Outreach of
“Reaching the unreachable, Touching the untouchable and Loving the unlovable.” This year’s ceremony will not only honor Mrs. Stanley but will also be recognizing notable men and women from the South Florida area.
