The American Foundation for the University of the West Indies (AFUWI) is pleased to announce that Suzanne de Passe, Co-Chair of de Passe Jones Entertainment, will be the first female to be awarded the prestigious AFUWI Bob Marley Award at the 14th Annual Legacy Awards Gala on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in New York City. The AFUWI Legacy Awards Gala is a prestigious annual event which seeks to raise well-needed funds to support scholarship programs at the University of the West Indies (UWI) and is its premier fundraising event in the United States.

The University of the West Indies (UWI) is the premier institution of higher education in the Caribbean. The UWI comprises a 16-member country community of the English-speaking Caribbean and boasts an enrollment of almost 40,000 students. UWI’s graduates continue to make an impact in the United States and around the world in a wide range of areas, including business, science, arts and culture, sports, and politics.
