On International reggae Day, Friday, July 1, 2011, Rassis International in association with Simiya House will launch the “Conscious Reggae Party” series under the moniker ‘Save the music, save the people, save the nation’, it’s a reggaelution. This will take place at the Bob Marley Museum, 56 Hope Road beginning at 6:00pm.
The “Conscious Reggae Party” Series is the hosting of positive, uplifting music through sound systems, bands, artistes and poets held weekly at different venues that promotes consciousness and a healthy lifestyle.
The series will take the format of cultural presentations by a singer,DJ, a a poet, a ‘reggaelutionary’ (a person with knowledge of the music industry), a young and aspiring singer/poet, a band and a sound system each week, hosted at venues such as:
- Studio 38 (Ashanti Vegetarian – Pulse Complex)
- Veggie Meals On Wheels (Regal Plaza)
- Legend Café (Bob Marley Museum)
- Country Farmhouse (Deanery Road)
- Mi Hungry ‘Whole-Some’ Food (Market Place)
The launch will see endorsements from the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture, the Broadcasting Commission among other industry people, as well as performances from surprise guest artistes.
