Reggae’s velvet-voiced Lover’s Rock icon Sanchez, is making Newark’s Robert Treat Hotel one of his first stops on his first U.S. tour in nearly three years. Under the tutelage of popular New Jersey entertainment outfits G City Enterprise, Icon World Entertainment, and RoadBlockRadio.com, tri-state area matriarchs will be treated to the legendary Sanchez for Mother’s Day StarTime on Sunday, May 9th.

With a voice said to be a “supernatural gift from God,” the timeless Reggae and Gospel singer will be joined on stage by Reggae singer Terry Linen for a memorable showcase dedicated to mothers. Mother’s Day StarTime is just one of many annual events hosted by the promoters in celebration of the tri-state area’s robust Caribbean community.

“We are adding Mother’s Day StarTime to our list of successful annual events,” states promoter Kasey ‘G City’ Rankine. “Like Reggae at the Ritz, the New Jersey Reggae Fest, and Karib Feva, we are looking for Mother’s Day StarTime to be another event that our loyal patrons can look forward to each year. The last time Sanchez was in New Jersey was right here at the Robert Treat for our Karib Feva winter holiday event in 2007. The demand for his return has been overwhelming. We are glad that we can bring Sanchez back to celebrate another holiday with our patrons.”

Whether he is delivering dancehall originals, crooning traditional Lover’s Rock tunes, recasting current R&B and pop hits as reggae favorites, or reinterpreting soul stirring gospel classics into contemporary devotional standards, Sanchez’s singular vocal talent has earned widespread accolades and legions of loyal fans worldwide. Silky smooth yet deeply sincere, technically precise but intensely emotional, Sanchez’s spectacular singing has, since the mid 1980s, demonstrated an unrivaled ability to elevate a hit song into an unforgettable listening experience. From his first single, a Reggae cover of Chris de Burgh’s “Lady in Red,” his distinctive vocals made him an instant success. Sanchez is known for his covers of Glen Medeiros’s “Lonely Won’t Leave Me Alone,” Larry Graham’s “One in A Million,” and Shai’s “If I Ever Fall in Love Again,” as well for original compositions like the original hits “Frenzy,” “Love Mi Lover Bad,” with Dancehall deejay Flourgon, and “Never Dis the Man.”

In February, VP Records released Now and Forever, 15 brand new tracks produced by legendary producer Donovan Germain of Penthouse Records. The first single from Now and Foreveris “Longing To Come Home”on the Protect & Serve riddim (rhythm), it is currently climbing the US world & reggae charts.

“Sanchez is a legend,” states Frank Cunningham of Icon World Entertainment. “He has an amazing catalogue of classics that appeal to people of all generations. From Lover’s Rock to Gospel to Dancehall, Sanchez has got it all. It’s the perfect Mother’s Day gift to mothers of all backgrounds and generations.”
