Third World Band’s 35th Anniversary celebration tour, which commenced at Jamaica Jazz and Blues in Trelawny, Jamaica on January 30, 2010, has since been in full swing. The Reggae Ambassadors has since performed in St. Thomas, British Virgin Islands and Antigua. During this Mother’s day weekend, the group is scheduled to perform in Sebastian, Orlando and West Palm Beach, Florida.
Their first stop was the Captain Hiram’s Resort, located in Sebastian, Florida. The backdrop for the show was the “Sand Shop” which is located on the beach. The outdoor venue was jam packed with locals and tourists alike who lined up to watch the band perform hit singles such as “Try Jah Love,” “Committed,” “Sense of Purpose,” and “Now That We Found Love.”
The Band entered the stage at 9:15 pm dressed in clothing, sponsored by “Color Heritage Apparel.” As thunder and lightening lit up the sky, the Band, seemingly undaunted by the threat of rain, performed their one and a half hour set without skipping a beat. Third World literally stormed Captain Hiram’s as the sky opened up and the showers came full force, fans rushed for shelter and continued to sing along with the band. The unwavering determination of the fans, many of whom stood in the rain, was proof of the band’s loyal fan base.
Even though the energy was high and the heat from the fans spread like wild fire, the air from the shores cooled the venue and the hearts of the fans as the band closed out with an encore performance of “Moving Up.” Original member Richard “Bassie” Daley reminded fans to log on to watch their live rehearsal stream on www.ination.tv/thirdworldbandlive and www.thirdworldband.com on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. EST for Caribbean and U.S. audiences, and re-broadcast May 9, 2010 at 1:00 a.m. EST for audiences in Europe and Africa.
The live-streamed broadcast will feature the worldwide premiere of the video for their new single, “The Spirit Lives,” a dedication to the people of Haiti and a preview of the making of the video for single “By My Side,” featuring Tessanne Chin. Fans will also get a behind the scenes look at the band’s rehearsal, receive information of their upcoming performances and more. As an added bonus, the band members will interact with fans via special chat rooms.
