This Day in Jamaican History-On March 18,1847 Dr Charles Campbell, dentist, of Kingston, performs the first tooth extraction under anaesthetic, sulphuric ether. The process was invented in New York only six months before. The anaesthetic machine used was built by Mr Arnabold in his shop on King St, Kingston.
