Kingston, Jamaica: – One of the Caribbean’s largest music festivals will go live this year with online ticketing at IslandStubs.com. Island Stubs, the newly introduced online ticketing company, will be the official online sales outlet for the upcoming 11th annual Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival 2008, when tickets go on sale Today, December 11.
“We are very excited to finally bring this much needed service to the Caribbean. Online ticketing has become an international phenomenon; spawning a lot of innovation and business development,” said Noelle Nicolls, Director of Planning and Development, who made a presentation at the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues launch on Monday.
The partnership between IslandStubs.com and Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues comes at the heels of the launch of the public education campaign for the Electronic Transactions Act (ETA). The ETA is billed to provide the legal framework to enable e-commerce to grow in Jamaica.
“Events are a major part of our thriving entertainment industry in the Caribbean. Specialized services that support event production are essential for the growth and development of the industry, especially services that enhance access for our overseas market to regional events,” said Basil Smith, Director of Tourism, of the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB).
“Online ticketing is a definite niche that is unlikely to be capitalized by the dominant international players. We welcome the initiative between Island Stubs and Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues and hope it produces sustainable and productive results,” said Mr. Smith.
Island Stubs will be offering ‘Will Call’ tickets for the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival 2008. With ‘will call’ tickets, event patrons have the convenience of purchasing tickets online and collecting them at the gate on the day of the event.
A new and innovative business concept, IslandStubs.com is the first online box office offering specialised services to Caribbean events that market overseas. Starting December 11, IslandStubs.com will sell tickets for the Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival. Interested persons will be able to purchase tickets, get news updates on the event and take advantage of special offers and discounts. The 11 th annual Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival is set for January 24-26, 2008 in Montego Bay.
