On February 23, The Edna Manley College of Visual and Performing Arts will throw open its doors to welcome the first ever live rendition of “The 8 Year Affair” album, performed by Protoje and The Indignation band. On this very special occasion, the multi-talented reggae pop sensation, Toi will take the stage with the militant group to perform “Shot By Love”, a lyrically powerful and uplifting collaboration featured on the album.
Having graced the stage at the Reggae Sumfest 2012 Beach Party, The BritJam Concert series, and The Fuze iT Fashion & Music Tour in the United States, the young songstress is now gearing up to entertain the masses of Kingston, Jamaica for the first time. At the presentation of the album on February 12, at the Tuff Gong International Recording Studio, the young songstress expressed her excitement saying, “it’s a real opportunity to share the stage with Protoje because I’m a big fan of his music and I can’t wait to perform for all my fans in Kingston”.
“The 8 Year Affair”, Executive Producer, Donovan “Don Corleon” Bennett, journeyed to Florida to record the collaboration with Toi, and though not originally intended for the album, “Shot by Love” sparks much expectation from both artists. Combining the distinctly pleasant vocals of Toi with Protoje’s poetic flow and the creative expertise of a Multi-Platinum selling, Grammy award winning producer, the team foresees far reaching effects and the touching of many hearts. With his sophomore album drop, Protoje, leader of The Indignation Band is in full gear. As expectations merge with reality, the fast-rising musical spectacle tells us – “I love the sound of this song, it is so different; the kick drum on it is just punching. I’m really interested to see how this song does”.
The trip is promising much from Toi, the 2011 Unsigned Hype’s International Artiste of the Year. Just in time for Valentine, her highly anticipating fans will also witness the release of a brand new music video of Toi performing her Calibur Entertainment produced single, “Suspended By Love”, as she moves to win the hearts of many who support her as one of Jamaica’s most promising female entertainers.
