Top Entertainers Face Local Football Team In Ocean Splash Showdown, May 2, 2010, St Mary

Oracabessa’s 007 All Stars, comprised of the area’s finest young football talent, gets ready to face their most formidable opponents yet – not necessarily in football skill, but certainly in international acclaim. This spring, the All Stars battle some of the biggest names in Jamaica’s entertainment industry for the Ocean Splash 2010  championship. Hosted by Triple T Production, Ocean Splash 2010 Celebrity Football Match and Fun Day will be held on Sunday, May 2nd at James Bond Beach.


Prestige, Aidonia, Twin of Twins, Ding Dong, RDX, I-Octane, Vybrant, John Hype, Fyakin, Delly Ranx, Mad Cobra, Captain Barkey, Tony Curtis, Lukie D, Jigsy King, Galaxy P, Mega Banton, Beetle Bailey, Ninja Kid, Little Chris, Mitch, Teacha D, Mr. Peppa, Kashu Man, Higher Boukie, Stikki, and Blacka Pride- The Ocean Splash Celebrity Football Team- under the tutelage of team captain Dancehall deejay Wickerman, will go toe-to-toe with the All Stars in a friendly scrimmage match that will kick-off Ocean Splash 2010.


“Ready? You asking if we ready,” says a 007 All Star team member nicknamed ‘One Cent.’ “You fi ask dem big belly entertainer if dem ready fi we,” he jokes.


When asked why he goes by the name ‘One Cent,’ the aspiring Dancehall deejay says playfully, “by the time this game end, everybody a go call me ‘Million Dollar Man.'”


“Well, from my point of view, the other team better be ready,” says Ocean Splash Celebrity team member Prestige, who scored a hit with “Dem Wrong,” in 2009, and whose latest single “Question” is fast gaining momentum on the local scene. “I am ready. My team is ready. So they better be ready!”


“Sports and music are two of the most prominent entertainment aspects in Jamaica”, says Triple T Production CEO Tasz Smith. “By merging football, Reggae and Dancehall, Ocean Splash creates a unique event that captures the very best of what Jamaica has to offer in entertainment.”


Ocean Splash 2010, dubbed ‘The Refix,’ returns to James Bond Beach after December’s cancellation due to inclement weather. Slated as a family fun-day and beach party, the event also features live performances from International Dancehall star Mavado, Dancehall diva D’Angel, the ‘gangstress’ Stacious, Roots Reggae soldiers Prestige, I-Octane, Vybrant, and Fyakin, Erup, Tiana, Hawkeye,  Bryan Art, Nuclear, and Villa Dutch & Feekez. In addition, party-goers will be treated to performances from famed dancers Dyema, Iyla, and Back It Up from the island’s weekly Dutty Fridaze street party. Music will be provided by popular sound system Jam Rock and Dutty Fridaze’s Slim J and Fire 20.


Ocean Splash 2010 will be held on Sunday, May 2nd at James Bond Beachi n St. Mary. The event features Mavado, Aidonia, Prestige, Twin of Twins, Ding Dong, D’Angel, Stacious, Wickerman, RDX, Mad Cobra, Erup, Captain Barkey, Lukie D, Tony Curtis, Delly Ranx, Vybrant, Mega Banton, Beetle Bailey, Jigsy King, Mr. Peppa, Teacha D, I-Octane, Galaxy P, Ninja Kid, Little Chris, Mitch, Stikki, Kashu Man, Higher Boukie, Blacka Pride, John Hype, Dyema, Iyla, and Back It Up. Pre-Sold tickets are currently $1,000 (JA), more at the gate. Gates open at 10:00 AM.
