Miss Carival 2009, Asheida Charles, was Digicel’s special guest at the toss for the start of the Second Digicel Test between the West Indies and Bangladesh at the Grenada National Stadium today.

“I feel so honoured to have been selected to represent Digicel at the toss for this match,” Charles said. “It was a very good opportunity for me to interact with the West Indies players.”

Charles says she is a fan of cricket, but not nearly as fanatical about the game as her mother, Juanita Charles.

Miss Carival is a regional pageant held in St Vincent and contestants are drawn from among the regional Carnival Queens.

Ms Charles is a native of Grenada where she has entered over half a dozen pageants, most recently the Miss Grenada Nation Pageant.

From the village of High Street Sautears, the 24 year old is in her final year of reading for a degree in Marketing at the St George’s University. She captured the Miss Carival title after outstanding performances in the talent and interview segments.
