While the 2011 Digicel Kick Start Clinics and Academy have come to an end, the thrill of the beautiful game is still going for two lucky Digicel customers who won an all-expenses paid trip to Sunderland to see the Premier League side face Blackburn Rovers in the Stadium of Light.

The trip, which takes place in December, is the top prize in Digicel’s text-to-win competition, the ‘Road to Sunderland’, which took place last month. Following thousands of entries, Jean Lunicmanm Souffrant and Jean Jocelin Prophete – both from Haiti – were announced as the winners.

Mr Souffrant, from Delmas in Port-au-Prince, said; “I’m thrilled to have won Digicel’s ‘Road to Sunderland’ competition. I am so excited about the trip and cannot wait to go to England and see Sunderland play in the Stadium of Light. A big thank you to Digicel, the best network in Haiti.”

Mr Prophete, from Croix des Bouquets in Port-au-Prince, said; “I couldn’t believe it when I heard the news that I had won. While I entered the text-to-win competition a lot and I was very hopeful, I was in shock to have been announced as the winner. Now my dream has come true thanks to Digicel.”

Digicel Group Head of Sponsorship, Karl Donnelly, said; “As proud sponsor of football throughout the region, we are always looking at ways of bringing fans closer to the action and closer to their heroes. As such, we are delighted to be giving two lucky customers the chance to see top Premier League side, Sunderland, play at home in the Stadium of Light in what promises to be a fantastic experience for these football fans.”

The Digicel Academy was a week-long elite training camp which took place in Trinidad from November 1st to 7th under the leadership of top Barclays Premier League coaches, Kevin Ball and Carlton Fairweather, from the Sunderland Academy, assisted by John Barnes. It involved 37 players from across nine Digicel markets. The Digicel Academy also hosted a ‘coach the coaches’ seminar in which coaches from across the region received expert training from Sunderland AFC’s finest teachers.
