Jamaica was named chair of the powerful Third Committee for the 62nd Session of the General Assembly. The committee’s core focus is on social, cultural, humanitarian and human rights issues.

According to Third Committee Chairman, His Excellency Raymond O. Wolfe, “the reception offered a unique opportunity to showcase Jamaica as a most preferred tourist destination in the sub region”.

The more than 200 UN accredited representatives and guests were greeted on arrival by Ambassador Raymond O. Wolfe and Mrs. Sharon Wolfe; Deputy Ambassador Angela Hamilton Brown; First Secretary Ariel Bowen and Counselor Diedre Mills.

Also in the audience were a number of UN Ambassadors accredited to Jamaica as non-resident diplomats.

The event was supported by Air Jamaica and the Jamaica Tourist Board with sumptuous Jamaican fare by The Door Restaurant, Queens.
