Veteran Reggae singer Ian Sweetness comes with a song that pays a special tribute to the beautiful island of his birth, the ‘land of wood and water’ in “Sweet Jamaica.” The single is released today, November 6 on the Issachar Muzik label and distributed through Tuff Gong International, the iconic label and distribution company founded by the late Bob Marley in Jamaica.
The founder of Issachar Muzik, Kingston native, Jah Lloyd ‘Issachar’ Shaw releases new material from roots Reggae artistes and material that has not been available digitally including unreleased tracks and surprises.
About Ian Sweetness
Ian Haywood (aka Ian Sweetness) born in Kingston, Jamaica. Gifted with talent, a versatile singer of culture Reggae music and Lover’s Rock, started at the age of nine with the church choirs. He is inspired by Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Beres Hammond, Frankie Paul and the old school Reggae foundation atistes.
His first recording was at nineteen at the Creative Sounds Studio in Kingston. The tune title was “Rude Bwoy” feat. Simpleton and then he started to work with some sound systems in his area,
From there, he started to spend time in studios around Jamaica, like Arrows Studio, King Tubby’s, King Jammy’s, Penthouse, Bobby Digital and more.
He recorded some of the tunes with Different Producers & Labels Such As Jah Life, Bobby Digital and was based at Arrows Studios, still working with different producers in Jamaica & overseas.
He was managed for by Penthouse Records, then Supreme Promotions of Sting. Ian started international performances in England in 1993. He then recorded songs with Japanese’s producers Like “You Light My Night Up” and collaborated with some deejays like Ranking Taxi in Japan,
In 1995, Ian moved to U.S.A after the loss of his parents to New York. Ian started recording with different producers and labels ike Jah Life and Don One in Brooklyn After addtional performances within New York and around the USA, he eventually moved full-time to Miami, Florida. In 2000, he has released “Little Green Apples” which went to number one on Reggae charts worldwide.
Ian prepared his first album release Slow & Steady by putting some of the most powerful lyrics & music together. Some of the producers for this album included Niney (The Observer), Royal Pyramid Label and Audio Sweetness Productions (his own label).
More collaborations followed and Ian release another album Lovers Rock Moods in 2015. He release more singles on compilations with Joe Fraser and VP Records in the 2010s and continues to be active in the studio and on the stage.
