Victoria Mutual Receives 5th Anniversary Noteworthy Commendations

On December 11, 2013, The Victoria Mutual Building Society (VMBS) – Florida Representative Office, celebrated 5 years of active service to the Diaspora, through its wide array of products and service offerings, geared towards assisting its Members in achieving financial independence for themselves and their families.

To mark this milestone, and for its service to the Community, two Commendations were bestowed on the VMBS Florida Representative Office, at its 5th Anniversary Church Service, held at the ChristWay Baptist Church in Miramar, Florida, on Sunday, December 8, 2013. These are the Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition by Congresswoman Fredericka S. Wilson, representing the 24th District – Florida, and Proclamation and Dedication of our Day, by Alexandra P. Davis, Vice-Mayor, City of Miramar.

Today, Victoria Mutual, the parent organisation, in celebrating 135 years of operations, is one of the leading financial institutions in Jamaica, and its Group Asset base, both off and on balance sheet stands in excess of J$102 Billion. This is due in part to the over 600 Team Members across the branch and Representative Office network in Jamaica, United Kingdom and the United States of America, offering excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders who wish to invest in savings, mortgages, real estate services, security trading and brokerage, asset and pension management, and money transfer services.

Speaking at the 5th Anniversary Church Service on Sunday, Allan Lewis, Senior Vice President, Group Strategy, at Victoria Mutual, stated, “as we celebrate this anniversary, we are thankful that this institution which was established a hundred and thirty five years ago is still alive and well today. Victoria Mutual remains committed to operating in the tradition of our founders, as a Mutual organization, owned by and operated for the benefit of its Members. We see the financial security of our Members as our primary focus and we truly believe that home ownership offers the best prospect for achieving this, for the great majority of families”.

According to Suzette D. Rochester, Manager, Victoria Mutual Florida Representative Office, “the Board of Directors, Senior Management and Staff are extremely proud of these noteworthy commendations, as they are a testament to our commitment to the Diaspora. In so doing, we will to continue to seek new strategies and initiatives to offer the most attractive savings and mortgage options that will afford our Members the opportunity to create wealth through real estate acquisition through VMBS, as well continue to provide avenues for the dissemination of important information through our Annual Community Forum and Financial Empowerment Workshops”.

Over the past 5 years, the Victoria Mutual Florida Representative Office has undertaken worthwhile collaboration and provided support for various Groups, such as Alumni Associations, Churches and Civic Organisations, as well as the Jamaican Consulate.  These and other key initiatives are intended to make a positive impact on the financial independence, social, spiritual and physical lives of fellow Jamaicans, and Friends of Jamaicans.
