VP Records is happy to announce the signing The Simpkin Project.  The 6-piece group, based in Orange County, CA, has inked a multi-album deal with the world’s largest reggae label.  The band consists of Phil Simpkin (lead vocals and guitar), Shawn Taylor (organ, keyboards and vocals), Sean Kennedy (drums), Sergio Sandoval (percussion), Eric Riegler (bass) and Jules Luna (rhythm guitar and vocals).

They are currently recording material for the new album, which is set to be released this year on VP Records’ newly formed imprint Dub Rockers. The Simpkin Project also plans to tour the United States in support of the release.

Known for their energetic live performances and stellar songwriting, the group makes music that addresses everyday struggles, while still showing the beauty in all things. Their multi-faceted blend of reggae and Americana music is filled with stirring honest lyrics over authentic roots rock rhythms.

VP Records Marketing Director Michael McGraw is pleased with this new venture. “The Simpkin Project stood out because, much like Jamaican reggae, their natural sound and level of musicianship exemplifies the qualities of a timeless sound that makes the music so enduring for multiple generations,” he states.

The Simpkin Project is also delighted to join VP Records roster. “We love reggae music period. It is what we were all raised on, strictly roots, rock and reggae music. What other genre of music exists solely as the vehicle that carries with it messages of peace, positive vibes, respect, love, empowerment and spiritualism,” states lead vocalist Phil Simpkin.
