“Protoje is a not-so-secret treasure who’s been a vital force in the reggae revival movement these last several years. Perched in the hills of Irish Town on the fringe of Kingston, Protoje welcomes us into his backyard (which doubles as The Habitat Studio) for a uniquely fresh spin on a Tiny Desk (home) Concert. With a custom-designed set flanked by lush greens and mountains in the distance, this creative backdrop complements the uplifting feeling of Protoje’s music. He speaks to his spiritual philosophy and faith on “Deliverance” with a chorus stating, “I hold my order, give my praises / Oh Jah, deliver me through these days, Jah deliver me / Sometimes really hard to go and face it / Oh this life can truly be amazing, amazing.” The accompanying songs in this performance, “Strange Happenings” and “Same So”, are also featured on his latest and fifth album, In Search of Lost Time. He wraps his performance with his most recognizable chart-topping hit, “Who Knows,” which featured Chronixx on the original recording. All in all, the vibes are plentiful and highly in-demand right about now.” – NPR, Abby O’Neill

“One of the most brilliant, modern artists coming out of the reggae and dancehall scene, but also with real influence coming out of hip-hop and r&b, and perfectly fusing and merging those…[In Search Of Lost Time] is the most perfect combination of all of those things…”

“…a masterful culmination of everything the artist is and represents…lyrics are honest and sharp, and its production is indicative of tried and true collaborations while bolstering Jamaica’s emerging class of producers.”

“Protoje is a current force defying the odds….Ihis best effort to date.”

“In Search Of Lost Time goes even further in shaping a sound that is rooted in reggae yet joins the international conversation of modern black music…..a new lyrical side to Protoje…he opens up about insecurity, doubts and fears in a way that completes him as an artist.”

“The varied stylistic approaches are unified by Protoje’s metered, cool-headed delivery and the distinctive personality he brings to each track…colorful and curious…with each collaboration coming off as an exciting meeting of forces”

“Protoje continues to cement himself as one of the leaders of the current reggae revival…chilled-out dose of modern-sounding reggae.”

“Respect is due for [Protoje] making moves to ensure that reggae music is treated with respect.”

“[Protoje’s In.Digg.Nation Collective] is a significant incubator for Jamaica’s new emerging soundscape”
