A movement of solidarity has risen among several business professionals and key organizations to address the concerns stemming from a lack of sponsorship aid to assist this year’s High School Caribbean athletes who will participate in the Penn Relays occurring April 22 – 24, 2010 at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. The Penn Relays began in 1895 and has become one of the largest track & field events held in North America featuring some of the top collegiate and high school athletes from the USA and the Caribbean.
Team Jamaica Bickle is a certified 501 c(3) non-profit organization created in 1995 whose primary focus is the well-being and the need to provide assistance to the athletes and officials from Jamaica and the Caribbean. In an attempt to find an alternative means of support and funding, due to a drop in sponsorship, The NetLinkz Group Inc., whose company provides management consulting, business development and event production services has reached out to several business professionals and special events promoters in the NYC area to assist in a fundraising effort on behalf of TJB.
As a sign of support, tri-state local businesses and entertainment professionals will allow the selling of the custom designed t-shirts with slogans ‘WE ARE One Caribbean or JAMAICA’ and ‘OUT OF MANY ONE PEOPLE’ at their establishments and/or events during the month of April and through the remainder of 2010, the proceeds will be donated to Team Jamaica Bickle. Donations can also be done directly online.
