WEST Sports Management, INC President Wesley Frater announced his 6th Annual Summer Caribbean Basketball Tour July 17-20 in Bimini and September 4-8 in Ocho Rios Jamaica. “This tour offers me the great opportunity to give back to my birth country and to the Caribbean region in a manner of which I know best…sports. Its been six years and it gets better each year. The start of the summer we have been to Barbados and Nassau and will now continue this annual goodwill tour in Bimini and end in Jamaica”…Wesley Frater.
Jamaican Born Frater will be joined by Hall of Famer and point guard for the 1967 World Champions Philadelphia 76ers Walter (Wali) Jones who is the Miami Heat Community Relations Liaison for the past 19 years. “I have been traveling the Caribbean for the past 6 years with Wesley and it gives me great joy to spread the word of literacy and non-violence utilizing basketball as a communication and teaching tool…Youths don’t fail, their plans fail and we will be working with these Caribbean youths to instill that”…Wali Jones.
Basketball camps will consist of skill enhancement, team and individual drills. At the end of each camp a donation of athletic equipment, uniforms, balls, footwear, reading books, school supplies and clothing will be made to various neighborhood organizations within Bimini, Ocho Rios Jamaica and Bethany St. Ann Jamaica. “There is no better way to serve your country and region than to assist the enhancement of it’s youths”…Wesley Frater.
This years camps will feature new programs. Accomplished stylist to the stars and Bahamian migrant Daun Ferguson Founder-President of Turningheads Exclusive in Miami will be traveling to speak on the upkeep of hair and style for female student-athletes. A youth group of South Florida basketball players (Miramar Hurricanes) will be traveling to Jamaica to compete in a exhibition game Downtown Ocho Rios September 6th.
