New York based Dominican born reggae/soca singer Winston Shillingford will release his new project titled ‘Jam Down’ on Labor Day weekend. Shillingford launched his music career at age seven playing a flute given to him by his sister Rhona. After migrating to London, he learned to play the guitar at age 12 and joined his first band ‘Rasta Five’ in London as a rhythm guitarist.

After migrating to the U.S. he joined Sylvester Inc band as a guitarist and recorded and released his first single at age seventeen. He later released ‘Universal Disc,’ which he wrote and arranged and played all instruments. “Being an instrumentalist, I take great pride in bringing to the market the sweet and jamming sounds from the Caribbean for the ultimate listening and dancing pleasure” he said.

“With Jam Down, my aim is to crossover reggae and Calypso music into the mainstream” he noted. His new disc – which has already started to gain radio spins in the tri-state area – include tracks “My Love,” “Shining Love,” “Run Out Of Babylon” and “Shake.”

The disc will be officially launched on Friday, September 2, 2011 at Nakisaki Restaurant/Nightclub in Long Island.
