Women’s Health Network Benefit on May 16th, 2014, Kingston

Friday, May 16, 2014 will see the staging of the Women’s Health Network’s benefit show, an event that benefits solely women across the island that are unable to pay for medical treatment. The show dubbed African Jamaican Connexion will be held at The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel at 6:30PM. The show will feature South African singing sensation Lorraine Klassen.

Nurse Lorraine Gentles, secretary of the organization said “the organization will be hosting the African Jamaican Connexion which is a music and dance show geared to raise $4,000,000 in funds to purchase an ultrasound and a mammogram machine to help with the diagnosis of cancer in the patients that the organization assist.”

The show will see to performances by the South African songbird Lorraine Klassen, as well as Judy Mowatt, Marcia Griffiths, L’Acadco: A United Caribbean Dance Force, L’Acadco Drum Explosion Orchestra, Desi Jones & Friends and Digicel Rising Stars alum Nickisha Barnes.

Dr. Rudolph Stevens President of the organization said “We are looking forward to the event and hope that we will be able to gain all that is needed to continue the great work of the organization and its members.”

Each ticket costs $3,500 and are available at Mall Pharmacy and from the Gynae Centre, Balmoral Ave. All proceeds from the show will go towards the purchase of the necessary screening equipment.
