My friend Bill Moore comments on yesterday’s blog that he would “rather see joy in the streets when they bring the troops home.” And, really, that says it all.
But I hope you will bear with me while I vent, superfluous though it might be.
I cannot get over the monstrosity of spending $1.3 trillion on “the war on terror” and expecting single mothers, the unemployed, the sick and the old to pay for the resulting national deficit.
I cannot contain my fury when billions are siphoned off to grease the palms of corrupt politicians in faraway countries and line the pockets of military contractors and arms manufacturers.
Who do those windbags in Washington think they’re fooling? Anyone with eyes can see why we’re really fighting all these wars. It’s to make some very rich people even richer, not to make America safer.
Now that the criminal responsible for the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon has been executed, there is no longer any excuse for occupying Afghanistan, Iraq or any other foreign country.
We’ve proved our point:
You don’t tug on Superman’s cape, you don’t spit into the wind. You don’t pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger, and you don’t mess around with (Uncle Sam).

We have done enough killing – for now, anyway. We’ve blown up enough buildings. We’ve sent enough sons and daughters and fathers and mothers and brothers and sisters to be killed and maimed. We’ve caused enough economic havoc at home. All we’re doing now is creating more enemies for America, more future terrorists prepared to undertake suicide missions against us.
For God’s sake, enough!
