Bear Stearns host CARICOM Economic & Investment Roundtable Meeting

Friday, March 02, 2007 – Bear Stearns, a worldwide investment banking and securities trading & brokerage firm with headquarters at 383 Madison Avenue & 47th Street, Manhattan, on Wednesday afternoon, February 28, 2007, convened a meeting with a number of New York Based CARICOM diplomats.

The round-table discussion centered on economic issues in the Caribbean region which is on the firm’s radar as a emerging market with tremendous potential in the wake of the Cricket World Cup and the legacy to be derived from such an event being staged in the region.

The meeting which was chaired by Dr. Carl Ross, Senior Managing Director & Head of Emerging Markets/Fixed Income Research, heard key presentations from Barbados, Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica on such topics as tourism and the recent US travel initiatives, CARICOM Single Market & Economy and Cricket world Cup 2007.

According to Dr. Ross, the region’s is becoming increasingly attractive to foreign investment because of good, stable governance, real GDP growth and good credit worthiness.
